Industrial design contributes greatly to the success of our clients projects. Throughout these projects, industrial design ensures the respect and optimization of important product characteristics such as: functionality, ergonomics, materials, process selection and aesthetic features, etc.. This important contribution begins at the brainstorming and preliminary design phase where the direction of the concept is refined and continues throughout the process up to the creation of the actual prototypes.
3D modeling
3D modeling determines the geometric definition of a new product. Combined with numerical simulation, this activity consists of a series of «virtual prototypes». This combination eases the optimization of product development. It is also an exceptional mean of communication between all of the parties involved in the product development. It enables the virtual validation of a component on a formal and dimensional level as well as on the integration of standard components. In fact, 3D modeling is the core activity which leads to many other activities such as numerical simulations, tool and die (tools and mould manufacturing), the creation of the various 2D draftings and rapid prototyping, etc.
Reverse engineering
When a formal 3D database or the 2D drafting of an existing product is unavailable, the geometry of an existing product is obtained through digitalization in order to form a cloud of dots which numerically defines the component. It is then retrieved with one of our 3D modeling tools, for the creation of an integrated database, by structured modeling which makes it easily accessible for subsequent use.
Mock-ups & Prototypes
During the conceptual phase, both functional and non-functional mock-ups provide the physical validation of the product throughout its development. Beyond a 3D representation, mock-ups enable the validation and the refinement of needs before the detailed development stage of the product. Prototyping activities then take place in order to validate the detailed conception of the product. Rapid prototyping or “true material” is carried out by a network of external partners which ensures the selection of the optimal process which best suits the customer’s needs and budget.
